Well hi there

Greetings, and thanks for checking out my blog. I'm embarking upon a year-long apprenticeship with Gavin Dovey of Paper Dragon Books and hope to use this space to chronicle what is certain to be a year of transition and change and growing pains and ridiculous mistakes and hopefully, eventually, beautiful books.

I fell in love with making books after taking a class at the Center for Book Arts in NYC. I had been working as an editor at a knitting magazine and was in need of an additional creative outlet, my previous hobby of knitting having been co-opted by my job. I took Bookbinding I, then II, then a few more classes, then was no longer able to deny that I had fallen hopelessly in love with bookmaking.

A posting by Gavin on the Philobiblon listerv looking for a committed apprentice piqued my interest and after speaking with him and visiting the studio, I knew I wanted to spend as much time there as possible.  He's offered me the position, I've said yes, and I start next week.

Woo!
